The short answer
Do you work in Kearney?
Kearney is home. Our shop is here, most of our crew lives within a few miles of it, and a Kearney job is the shortest drive we make. Decks are the work we're called for most in town — new builds, replacements and additions — followed by fences, covered decks and finished basements.

Veteran's Custom Home Solutions is a veteran-owned and -operated contractor based in Kearney, with over 15 years of hands-on crew experience. Our neighbours get the same thing every customer does: a crew that shows up when it said it would, keeps you informed while the work is going on, and leaves the job site clean.
Being local matters most after the build. If a board needs attention or you want to add stairs, a cover or a fence the following year, we're a few minutes away rather than a trip across the metro.
What we build for Kearney homeowners
Custom decks in pressure-treated lumber, cedar or composite, including replacements, additions, stairs and railings. Covered decks, pergolas and screened-in decks when you want the space to be usable for more of the year. What Kearney properties tend to need
Most of the Kearney decks we're asked to look at fall into one of two groups. Either the house came with a small landing or no deck at all and the owner wants real outdoor space off the back door, or an older deck has reached the point where boards, rails or stairs are going and the question is whether the frame underneath is still worth keeping.
That second question is the one worth getting right, and it can't be answered from the top of the deck. We look at the footings, the ledger connection and the framing before we quote, and if the structure is sound we'll say so and price new boards and a new rail on it rather than a full rebuild.

Common questions from Kearney homeowners
What Kearney homeowners ask us most.
Do you charge for an estimate?
No. Estimates are free, in person or over the phone, with no obligation.
Can you repair our deck instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. If the frame and footings are sound we'll quote new boards, rails or stairs on the structure you already have, and tell you plainly if they aren't.
How does a deck project start?
With a site visit, a conversation about how you'll use the space and which materials fit, and then a written estimate.
What does basement finishing cover?
Framing, insulation, drywall, electrical, plumbing, flooring and trim, scoped to your layout.
Do you pull the permit for work in Kearney?
We do, and we meet the inspector, as part of the job. Requirements for footing depth, railing height and structural connections are set by your city and county and they aren't uniform across the metro — which is exactly why it isn't a task worth handing to a homeowner.
How soon can you get out to Kearney?
Call and we'll give you a straight answer for the week you're asking about rather than a stock one. Kearney is where our shop is, so getting out to look is not the constraint — the build schedule is, and it's tightest in spring and early summer.
If you want outdoor work finished in time to use it this year, the call is worth making earlier than feels necessary.

We just completed our third project with VCHS. The construction, materials and service is always top notch. We will call them again.

VCHS was very easy to work with. They rebuilt our deck that had significant wood rot. Their price was reasonable. They were timely, professional, and friendly. They offered good advice on care and maintenance of the new deck. The deck looks great! I would recommend VCHS for your home repair or remodeling needs!

We had a great experience working with Jason and his team on our new deck! I had a lot of questions throughout the process, and Jason was always patient, responsive, and helpful. It really stood out how much they care about doing quality work — when we noticed a couple of small things after the deck was finished, they took care of them right away to make sure we were completely happy. We absolutely love our deck and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, professional contractor who stands behind their work.
